Types of Braces

Orthodontic treatment goes beyond aligning teeth; stabilization of jaws or teeth, or modification of facial growth may be needed, and sometimes a combination of orthodontic and orthopoedic treatment is necessary.

There are many different types of appliances (not just braces) that facilitate each specific treatment. Fixed appliances, such as braces, are worn continuously and are most often used when more aggressive treatment is required. Removable appliances, such as retainers and Invisalign are a convenient option for those with less severe conditions.

Skeletal expanders, jaw correctors, and different types of headgear are other appliances that may be used in treatment. If you would like more information about which type of appliance might be right for you, please contact us to schedule your FREE consultation; Dr. Irwin and his knowledgable team will provide you with all the necessary information and resources to make an informed decision about your (or your child’s) best option for orthodontic care.
